Merdina Heppelsia Silvera, 78 of Morant Bay, Jamaica and formerly of Kissimmee, Florida went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 12, 2015. She was born in Jamaica, West Indies January 4, 1937, the daughter of Wilmont W. Harmitt and Frances Lestel Harmitt. Merdina moved to Kissimmee in 1990 from Brooklyn, New York. She was a retired Registered Nurse with a passion for caring for others, and a Baptist by Faith.
Merdina is survived by her son, Neville Silvera (Arlene) of Clermont, Florida; 3 loving grandchildren: Dino, Sillene and Sheena Silvera; step-son Ronald Silvera (Gwen) of New York; step-daughters: Carol Jean McFarlane (Winston) of Tampa, Florida, Monica Jackson of Jamaica; brothers: Clavel Harmitt of Florida, Parnell Jackson of New York, and Peploe Jackson of Jamaica; Sisters: Ena Smith of England, Pearl Folkes of England, Clunis “Faith” Jackson of Georgia and Monica Wedderburn of Maryland.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 5, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Merdina H. Silvera will be held at 2:00 P.M. in the Roger C. Thompson Memorial Chapel at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home. Merdina will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery following the services.
