George Lawrence Green Jr, 89 of Melbourne, Florida passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at home with his family be his side. He was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island the son of George L and Martha Knowles Green and moved to Melbourne, Florida in 2011 from Yuma, Arizona. George was a retired Deputy Fire Chief with over 30 years of service as a fire fighter. He was a member of the Masons and a Methodist by faith. George was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving his country with honor during World War II.
George is survived by his sons: Robert Green (Jeannine) of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, Joseph Green of Miami, Florida; daughters: Marjorie Thompson (J. Bruce) of Melbourne, Florida, Laura Purcell (Colin) of St. Cloud, Florida, Suzanne Olivera of St. Cloud, Florida; sister: Betty Swope (Marion) of Green Valley, Arizona; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his loving wife Lillian and brother, James.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
