Linda ‘Kay’ Tyrrell

Registered Nurse at Osceola Regional Hospital for 28 years. She was a member of the D.A.R.
Survived by her husband Calvin “Cal” Tyrrell, her sister Pat Rose of Wickford R.I., son’s family Robert & Carrie Tyrrell of St. Cloud, grandson Joshua Tyrrell. Daughter’s family Kimberley & John Wayne Sexton of St. Cloud, Grandsons Justin W. Sexton of St Cloud, Bryan and Jenna Sexton United States Army, Fort Riley Kansas, Uncle and aunt, F.G. “Pat” and Gladys Karr of Albia Iowa.
Kay & Cal met in 1956 in North Kingstown R.I. while Cal was in high school and Kay was in Jr. High. They went steady until they became engaged in 1961when Kay was a senior in high school. After graduation from High School she and her sister attended Cosmetology School in Providence R.I. and graduated in August of 1962. Kay and Cal were married on Sept. 15, 1962 and lived in Saunderstown R.I. They moved to Kissimmee with their children, Robert and Kimberly in July of 1971. Kay went to work at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home and attended Licensed Practical Nursing School in Orlando to receive her L.P.N. certification. She continued working there as a L.P.N until taking a position in the Oak Street Community Hospital later to become Osceola Regional Hospital. She later attended Polk Community College where she obtained her As. Degree as a Registered Nurse in 1981. She worked at Osceola Regional Hospital as a R.N. for the next 28 years. She continued her education and worked as an emergency room nurse, operating room recovery nurse, a floor charge nurse and other nursing fields in the hospital until being forced to retire after her first heart attack in 2005.
Memorial services will be held on February 14, 2015 at 3 pm, at Conrad and Thompson Funeral Home located at 511 Emmett St, Kissimmee, FL. by Pastor Rodney Rowe. The family asks in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association in Kay Tyrrell’s name.
