Ruby Raburn Duke Colombo,93, of Kissimmee passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 17, 2015, having shared her final days with family by her side.
She was born on June 10, 1921 in Temple, Georgia, the daughter of AE Raburn and Leila Redding Raburn. Ruby graduated from Seminole High School, Sanford, Florida in 1939. She married Haley Duke in 1939 and moved to Kissimmee. She was widowed in 1978 after 39 years of marriage. Ruby later married John Colombo and was widowed in 2009. Ruby, who was known by her grandchildren as Meme, is survived by her daughter Brenda Bronson(Bud) of Kissimmee, daughter Jan Lackey(Dan) of Kissimmee, son Haley Duke of Kissimmee, step son Chris Colombo(Billie) of Kissimmee and seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Ruby was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 60 years where she taught Sunday School for many years. Having lunch with her Beta Sigma Phi friends was such fun for her. She loved life, was an avid reader, loved playing the piano and arranging flowers from her garden. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruby was known for her gardening and passion for flowers. Every spring her yard seemed to explode with color. She saw God in all growing things and spent her life trying to honor Him. She considered her grands the loveliest of His creations.
Graveside funeral services for Ruby will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Rose Hill Cemetery, Kissimmee, with the Reverend Tim Wilder and Reverend Harold Epperson, officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
